Overview

System leaders are willing and able to shoulder wider roles, and in doing so, aim to improve the success of students in other schools as well as their own. These conferences are an opportunity to co-construct the system leadership agenda, looking at how system leadership can grow from a series of local initiatives to a coherent national movement.

You will gain an understanding of the system leadership movement and the benefits it can bring to both your school and the education system as a whole. You will return to school with the skills required to undertake this kind of leadership role. All delegates will receive a copy of 'Every School a Great School' by David Hopkins. 

Combining theory and best practice, you will also help to plan for the future of system leadership. You will be contributing to the national debate on system leadership which will shape David’s forthcoming iNet pamphlet.

Questions which will be addressed include:

• What impact is system leadership having on school improvement, and in particular teaching and learning?
• What developments have taken place in the last year? How do they sit within local contexts and government policy?
• What are the next-steps for building the system leadership movement?
• How do we develop the next generation of system leaders? What type of skill set is required for system leadership?
