The iNet Transforming today for tomorrow document has the following as one of its central principles:
The most important person in a school is the young person. Schools exist for and are organised around and energized by young people. Schools embrace the life context of young people. Young people have an active voice and are collaborators in their learning and the life of school.
The most important person in a school is the young person.
Schools exist for and are organised around and energized by young people. Schools embrace the life context of young people. Young people have an active voice and are collaborators in their learning and the life of school.
This event - for staff and students - aims to provide schools with the knowledge, ideas and motivation to make the principle a reality.
Principal David Warner and a number of students from Eltham College of Education will present their leading edge approach to learner voice.
A panel of school principals will respond to the presentation and discuss how other schools could adapt the ideas.
Teachers and students will discuss ideas with delegates from other schools, before coming together at the end to put together an action plan for their school. The success of these plans will continue to be tracked and shared over the course of the school year.
It is strongly recommended that each school have an adult representative accompanied by at least two students.
The forum will be held at Eltham College of Education, Melbourne on Wednesday, 22 August, from 10.00am to 1.00pm.
Attendance at the event for one adult and two students costs $80 (including GST). To book, download a booking form and return to the address supplied.
