Preparing students to be leaders and agents of meaningful change in a 21st century globalised world.

This online conference provides an opportunity to discuss the contribution educators can make to preparing and encouraging students to become leaders and positive forces for meaningful change in a 21st century globalised world.

Educators are challenged to debate whether it is desirable to make this a priority, and to share experiences of involving students in a real change process at school or international level.

Educators are invited to submit resources around the conference theme, below are some questions as a starting point, but you are welcome to address different aspects of the conference theme.

• How far are we as educators prepared to challenge traditional ways of doing things to empower and build confidence in young people so that they can successfully learn, live and work in the 21st century world?
• What can educators do to help students debate and take action on key issues that are important to them at local, national or international level?

Other questions to consider include:

• What key changes do we need to make to the structure and content of education curricula to prepare students for the world in which they are going to live, learn and work?
• How might these changes impact and influence the recruitment and training of teachers and of others adults involved in students’ learning?
• What are the implications for developing the school leaders of the future?
• What cultural changes does your school need make to ensure that the professionals within it become more globally aware?
• How can you demonstrate to students that their voice is genuinely sought and honoured?
• What are the skills that young leaders and agents of change need to develop?
• What experiences can you share of involving students in change within or outside their schools or communities?
• To what extent should limits and boundaries be set for involving young people in change?
