Why study the iNet Europe Masters?
This Masters programme offers a European dimension to
academic study and research, giving students the opportunity to
work together across international borders. It is currently a
collaborative programme between three Universities (Warwick,
Amsterdam and Wolverhampton). From January 2007 it is expected that
a further 2 European universities will join the programme, with
several more joining the following year, thus increasing the
opportunities for student collaboration.
Each participating University has its own degree in leadership
at Masters Level and has identified a specific module within its MA
programme as a dedicated iNET component. This component will focus
on leadership, innovation and development in schools.
The outcome of the module will be an assignment based upon an
international comparison, which is then assessed in the home
University. Students will complete this international comparative
study by firstly identifying an international partner from one of
the institutions participating in the programme and then linking
with their partner through a Virtual Learning Environment
(VLE).
Students are also invited to attend a yearly summer school to
meet professors and students studying at other universities, and
to share new ideas with each other.

Offer the Masters at your university
The MA is a collaborative course between the Universities of
Warwick, Amsterdam and Wolverhampton. The lead academics on the
current programme are Professor Alma Harris (Warwick), Professor
Meta Kruger (Amsterdam) and Professor Sir Geoff Hampton
(Wolverhampton). It is anticipated that the number of participating
Universities will rise, increasing European engagement and
expanding the opportunities for student collaboration.
In November 2006, 14 European Universities attended the
inaugural iNet European Masters meeting at the Danish University of
Education in Copenhagen. We are very grateful to Professor Leif
Moos for his hospitality in hosting the meeting, which was a huge
success.
As a resuIt of the meeting, it is anticipated that two further
Universities will join iNet and the Masters programme in January.
Other Universities will then embark on the programme in 2007/2008,
and it is hoped to extend the Masters beyond Europe in 2008/9.
Further details of the institutions that are currently involved in
the development and delivery of the MA programme, and those that
attended the first meeting will be added to these pages in due
course.
To become an iNet Europe Masters institution your University
must have its own degree in leadership at Masters Level. You must
also be able to identify a specific module within your MA programme
as a dedicated or 'ring-fenced' iNet component. The content and
focus of this module will be leadership, innovation and development
in schools.
