June saw the first iNet Europe Masters summer school held in Amsterdam. At the residential event students and professors from Warwick, Wolverhampton and Amsterdam were also joined by colleagues from Croatia. The focus of the event was to share ideas on leading school improvement and innovation in an international context.
Professor Alma Harris of the University of Warwick delivered a stimulating key note presentation on ‘Leadership for learning’. Drs Ben van der Hilst and Catrien Mesman followed this with a talk on the challenges of the Masters programme in Amsterdam. In addition some of the students ran workshops on their areas of study.
A highlight of the event was Professor Brian Caldwell’s morning workshop on ‘Alignment for transformation’. During the session. Professor Caldwell challenged participants to draw on intellectual, spiritual, financial and social capital within the school or educational system in order to secure high levels of success for all students.
The event was a huge success and planning is now underway for the second summer school next year.
