5th iNet International Conference, 26 28 November 2008

iNet's study tours to China are an opportunity for teachers and headteachers to:

• Visit leading schools in Beijing or Shanghai to discover new practices and share your own experiences
• Learn about Chinese culture and the Chinese education system
• Form school partnerships in order to offer your students and staff a variety of international activities

Itinerary

Each tour lasts one week, and combines both structured days and free time to explore Beijing. A typical itinerary includes:

• Sunday
  Orientation, introduction to iNet and briefing session
• Monday
  Group visit to a leading school or a meeting with a senior education specialist
• Tuesday – Thursday
  Individual visits to a target partner school including preparation for link activities. Most participants will have a chance to run oral English lessons for the students
• Friday – Saturday
  Cultural programmes, including visits to the Forbidden City, the Temple of Heaven and the Great Wall at Mu Tian Yu. Read more

There will be a number tours running in 2007 – 2008. Exact dates are being fixed, but they will take place in the following months:

Sustaining your school partnership

For schools in the UK, once a partnership with China has been active for six months, money for further visits is available through the Teachers’ International Professional Development (TIPD) fund. Please visit the TIPD website to find out more, or contact Emma Coward - emma.coward@ssatrust.org.uk.

We also produce a CD-ROM toolkit - Building your global network - which draws on best practice from schools who have successful international partnerships.

Booking information

The tour costs approximately £1500 per participant and includes flights, accommodation and local transport. Travel to Heathrow, visas, subsistence and personal travel insurance are not included. The price may vary for teachers flying from countries other than UK The tours are suitable for all members of staff, including headteachers. Delegates are fully briefed before departure.
